Ekuru Aukot Blasts KTN Journalist

Thirdway Alliance presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot on Thursday blasted KTN senior journalist Dennis Onsarigo after his remarks on the current political situation in the country.

Onsarigo had posted that the country was facing a constitutional crisis and labeled Aukot a 'sideshow' after High Court ruled that he be included in the October 26 poll.

Mr Aukot was swift to respond via his Twitter handle, asking the journalist to stick to his lane.

The post drew several reactions, with some asking the presidential candidate to humble himself after his victory at the High Court.

Aukot also aimed a jibe at Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati after the decision to include all candidates in the election.

The High Court on Wednesday ordered the electoral commission to include Aukot on the ballot for the October 26 repeat presidential election.

Dr Aukot had filed the case seeking to be included in the repeat presidential race after the IEBC ruled that the poll, scheduled for October 26, would only be a contest between President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.

On Tuesday, October 10, Odinga withdrew from the repeat presidential election stating it was only through his withdrawal from the showdown that the country would have a credible, free and fair election as per the law.

The IEBC later announced that all eight candidates who vied in the August 8 polls were eligible to run, including Odinga, after it emerged that he had not submitted a signed form 24A that would ultimately rule him out of the presidential race.

NASA has maintained that there will be no election on October 26 and is pushing for fresh nominations as per their understanding of the Constitution.
