You Will Know Who Owns Kenya After Election - Raila Warned

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago on Thursday issued a stern warning to National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga ahead of the October 26 presidential election.

Speaking during a rally in Nyandarua County to drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mr Mandago told Odinga that once the elections are over, he will know "who owns Kenya."

“I am telling Raila Odinga, after October 26, my friend once we re-elect Uhuru Kenyatta, you will know this Kenya has its owners,” he was quoted by the Star.

The outspoken Governor added that Kenyans cannot be engaged in 'political jokes' and mass action throughout at the expense of development.

"The Kenyan economy is going to waste, yet he is not worried. Whether people die or not, he does not care,” he added.

Mandago also alleged that the NASA leader had gone abroad to seek funds for mass action and should not be tolerated any longer.

He further urged Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to ensure all demos are banned.

"I wish I was the Nairobi governor. They would have faced the music,” he stated.

On Thursday, Dr Matiang'i banned all demos in Kisumu, Mombasa and the Nairobi CBD, noting that protesters were destroying property and robbing innocent civilians.

His sentiments drew a variety of reactions from leaders allied to the Opposition who termed his directive as dictatorial and backward.

The leaders vowed to continue with demos as planned as it is their democratic right.
