Six high school students from Lokichoggio AIC Secondary School in Turkana County and one security guard were killed on Saturday morning by suspected Toposa Militia from South Sudan.
Among those killed were four boys and two girls. Reports indicate that some of the female students were also raped during the 3 am incident.
Victims with minor injuries were rushed to the Lopiding Hospital in Lokichoggio while others with serious injuries were referred to Lodwar Referal Hospital.
County officials liased with Amref to airlift four victims who were critically injured to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
“They sustained abdominal penetrative injuries and require quick medical attention," Turkana County Referral Hospital Superintendent Dr Gilchrist Lokoe stated.
Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok, who arrived at the school, condemned the incident asking security arms to ascertain the true motive of the attack and bring those behind it to book.

The attack is believed to have been orchestrated by a student suspended from the school a month ago.
The student is suspected to have mobilised the militia from his community in South Sudan who then launched an attack on the institution.
In September, a Form One student was arrested on suspicions of starting a fire that killed 10 students at Moi Girls School in Nairobi.
The student was charged with nine counts of murder and released on a cash bail of Sh200,000.
