Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga Shot At During NASA Demonstrations

Homabay County Woman Representative Gladys Wanga was on Monday shot at by unknown assailants during the anti-IEBC demonstrations in Nairobi.

The Woman Rep claims that people dressed in police regalia chased her car as she was trying to access the city center to join other NASA leaders for the protests.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the Homabay County Woman Rep claimed that the police targeted her and her Kisii counterpart, Janet Ongera.

“The police targeted me today. I was with honourable Ongera. They chased us, shooting at us and threw teargas canisters towards my car,” stated Mrs Wanga.

“During the demonstrations in town, we noticed an X-trail with men on the sunroof chasing us. They chased us from Kijabe street to State House road, firing at us,” she added.

Wanga is among the NASA leaders who are at the forefront of the anti-IEBC protests around the country calling for reforms in the electoral body.

She alleges that the unknown assailants chased her and Mrs Ongera to her residential home.

“We changed cars and got away with honourable Ongera’s car. They traced us down and followed us again shooting at us. This was an attempt to kill me,” she lamented.

Her personal car appears to have been shot at with the rear windshield shattered by what she claims was a bullet.

Mrs Wanga assured Kenyans.co.ke that she was not injured in the ordeal neither was Madam Ongera.
