IEBC Warned Against Distributing October 26 Election Materials

Migori County Assembly Speaker Boaz Okoth has warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against distributing presidential election materials in the area.

While addressing the press after leading demonstrations in Migori town, Okoth stated that NASA leaders will block any attempts by IEBC to distribute the election materials in any polling station.

The Speaker explained that this will be a way of rejecting the process of conducting elections on October 26.

“The NASA leadership in Migori County will block the election officials from distributing election materials in all the polling stations as a way of rejecting the repeat of the presidential elections,” Okoth stated.

This comes as leaders in various opposition strongholds continue to vow that elections will not take place in their areas.

On Sunday, former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama maintained that NASA supporters in sections of Eastern, Western, Nyanza and Coastal regions would not participate in the October 26 poll.

Muthama took a swipe at the Jubilee coalition for passing the electoral amendment laws stating that it was unfair for the ruling party to change the rules midway.

A day later, Mwingi MP Dr Mutemi Mulyungi declared that the presidential election would not take place in his constituency if IEBC fails to make timely changes.

Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode also announced that he would lead all MCAs to ensure no voting takes place if the electoral agency insists on pushing through with its plans.

NASA has been holding weekly anti-IEBC demonstrations to push for the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other officials who bungled August elections.
