NASA Gives New Directions to Supporters

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has issued a new statement after the High Court temporarily suspended a ban on demonstrations in the Central Business Districts of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

The Alliance hailed the ruling as a win for constitutionality and announced plans for fresh peaceful demonstrations as well as an event to honor those murdered by the police.

NASA instructed its supporters to prepare for a mega rally on Wednesday and to also resume the daily demonstrations against the IEBC.

"Tomorrow we will have a major rally at Kamukunji grounds in Kibra attended by all the leaders, proceed on a peaceful march into town where we will present our petition to the IEBC.

"We urge our supporters countrywide to turn out in large numbers across the country for peaceful demonstrations in honor of all Shujaas who have paid the ultimate price at the hands of Uhuru’s Police Militia," part of its statement read.

NASA Chief Executive Norman Magaya maintained that they would not be intimidated and accused the government of applying the law selectively.

The court, in its ruling, barred the police from arresting Magaya after acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i announced that he would be held liable for any damage caused during NASA demonstrations.

Mr Magaya added that they were still gathering evidence in their plan to institute legal proceedings at the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Matiang'i and Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet.

They accused the duo of targeting the Luo community and wrongly killing its members.

Magaya stated: "What is going on amounts to ethnic cleansing and is being done with the full knowledge of those in the highest offices of Jubilee."

The coalition's leaders further reiterated their position that there would be no presidential election on October 26th.
