Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has spoken on the resignation of Commissioner Roselyne Akombe from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Murkomen noted that it was within her right to make such a decision adding that the move was expected.
He, however, maintained that the election must take place within the 60 days stipulated by the Supreme Court and will still be conducted by the IEBC.
"I think Dr Akombe was within her constitutional right, she felt that it was good for her..It was not something that was not expected by the Constitution and the laws.
"We have a commissioner whose patriotism was divided, she has the citizenship of more than one country, she has a place to call home," he stated.

The Senator also alluded to the National Super Alliance's declaration that there will be no election, stating that they should stop intimidating officers of independent bodies. The coalition has been pushing for the ouster of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba whom they accuse of working for Jubilee.
"They are people who are working very hard to occasion a crisis so that we don't have elections on 26th so that we wake up the next day and say we are now in uncharted waters," Murkomen revealed.
Akombe sent a letter of resignation stating that she did not believe the commission was capable of delivering a credible election on October 26th.
She states: "The commission in its current state can surely not guarantee a credible election on October 26. I do not want to be party to such a mockery to electoral integrity."
She further revealed that she flew to New York because she believed her life was in danger.
The Commissioner confirmed that there were deep divisions in the commission with top officials compromised, alleging that officials were unable to discuss issues on merit but instead supported party positions.

Dr Akombe also divulged that IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati was under intense pressure.
