The training of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials in Kisumu has been disrupted.
A group of rowdy people showed up just as the IEBC officials were setting up tents and destroyed property.
The officials were roughed up and police were forced to intervene to rescue them from the angry mob.
The returning officers who were set to undergo training were forced to flee with senior officials conducting the exercise being escorted away by armed police.
In recent weeks, leaders allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) in Nyanza region have vowed that no election will take place in their counties.
Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has also reiterated that if no reforms are made, no elections will be made.
On Tuesday, NASA leader Raila Odinga stated that he was ready for talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta about electoral reforms.
He strongly refuted that he planned to sweet-talk the president into a power-sharing deal.
The country is once again in confusion after senior IEBC commissioner Dr Roselyn Akombe resigned from the poll body barely a week to the election.
She cited sharp division in the electoral body and stated that IEBC was not in a position to conduct a credible election.
