Raila Announces What NASA Will Do on Election Day

National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga has announced that the opposition will hold countrywide demonstrations on October 26.

Speaking at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Wednesday, Odinga announced that NASA would continue to push IEBC to meet its demands before holding any election.

The NASA leader claimed that resignation of IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe was an indication there was interference within the commission by State House.

"Chebukati's statement today confirms that IEBC takes instructions from State House. Today we are changing our call from 'no reforms, no elections' to 'October, no elections',” Odinga stated.

The remarks by the NASA leader came even as President Uhuru Kenyatta warned of stern action against anyone who will attempt to disrupt the repeat elections.

President Kenyatta cited recent incidents where IEBC officials were attacked while preparing for the upcoming poll.

The Head of State stated that Kenyans would not allow the opposition leader to undermine the process leading to a coalition government.

"Whoever will try to stop the elections by attacking IEBC officials, firm action will be taken against them. We cannot allow a few individuals to destroy our country,” the President warned.

The opposition has been holding countrywide demos in a bid to push for the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other officials who bungled August elections.

On Tuesday, NASA cancelled the anti-IEBC demonstrations so as to honour people killed during recent protests.
