President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday wrote Kenyans a letter urging them to support his re-election bid in next week's repeat presidential election.
In the letter, President Kenyatta explained that 2017 had not been an easy year for the country but underscored that the government had achieved a lot in terms of infrastructure.
"It has not been an easy year for the country. There have been challenges we have faced, but we have also done very well in many areas.
"We have built much-needed infrastructure across the country, we have improved efficiency and jealously protected the democracy that all Kenyans enjoy," the letter read in part.

Regarding the current situation in the country, the Head of State noted that it was important for Kenyans to vote and get over with the electioneering period as it was negatively affecting the economy.
"The current situation is not helping us. Things are slowing down. The economy is starting to take a hit.
"There is anxiety and uncertainty in the air. We are feeling it. The Kenyan economy is one economy. When Kenya slows down, it slows down for everyone," President Kenyatta wrote.
He called upon all registered voters to turn up during the repeat presidential election and vote adding that "when you vote, peace, progress, and Kenya wins".
The President acknowledged the frustration the citizens were going through but noted that everything will change if Kenyans go out and vote for their preferred presidential candidate.
"So fellow Kenyans, I know you are frustrated and tired but we can do it once again. On 26th October, I humbly ask for your vote so that together we can get our country moving again," he stated.
