Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday announced that he will not recognise a win by President Uhuru Kenyatta if he is re-elected in the October 26th election.
Speaking during an interview with the Nation, Mr Odinga also noted that if President Kenyatta is declared the winner, he will not move to the Supreme Court to challenge his re-election.
According to the former Prime Minister, challenging the results at the highest court of the land would be a waste of time and resources.
"Filing a petition will be a waste of time. As far as we are concerned, this is not an election. Therefore, it is not a legal matter but a political one which must be dealt with as such.
"You heard Chebukati say that he cannot deliver a credible poll. In fact, he said he can’t guarantee a fair one. Under such circumstances, even without addressing the issues we raised before, who would in their right frame of mind, agree to participate in such an exercise?” Odinga posed.

Meanwhile, Mr Odinga accused the Jubilee government of planning to use excessive police force on protesters especially in Nyanza region.
"The manner in which this government is deploying police officers in Nyanza is a clear indication that they have profiled this community as aliens, the government had deployed hundreds of military officers in NASA strongholds, especially in Nyanza, under the guise of providing security during the elections but with an aim of hurting supporters," Odinga explained.
Speaking in Bondo on Friday, he re-affirmed the coalition's position that there will be no election on October 26th adding that his supporters should wait for his official communication on Wednesday 25th October 2017.
"On October 25th I will address Kenyans to tell them what to do. I have looked ahead and I know where I am taking this ship.
“I can assure you we shall conclude this matter in an amicable way,” Odinga stated in Bondo.
So far, 14 Opposition Governors and Senators have vowed that no elections will take place in their counties.
Some of the areas that have made the declaration include; Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Kisumu, Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia, Vihiga, Migori, Siaya, Homa Bay, Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui.
