NASA Governor Turns Up to Vote [PHOTO]

Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja on Thursday turned up to vote during the repeat presidential election.

Samboja who was elected on a Wiper Party cast his vote at the Mwakishimba Primary school in Wundanyi constituency.

This comes as a surprise since National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders vowed to ensure that no election will be conducted in their areas.

In the past, Mr Samboja has expressed his willingness to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta in a bid to ensure his residents get development.

He made a surprise appearance at President Kenyatta’s campaign rally in Voi on October 12, stating that he had a responsibility to welcome any leader who comes to the county.

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama had announced that there will be no election in sections of Eastern, Western, Nyanza and Coastal regions.

Makueni MP Dan Maanzo, on his part, affirmed the coalition's position that there will be no election without reforms adding that IEBC can only declare a winner if all the 290 constituencies participate in the exercise.

Migori County Assembly Speaker Boaz Okoth warned the IEBC against distributing presidential election materials in the area.

In Siaya, Speaker George Okode also announced that he would lead all MCAs to ensure no voting takes place if the electoral agency insists on pushing through with its plans.

On Wednesday, NASA leader Raila Odinga urged opposition supporters to boycott the repeat poll and instead stay at home on election day and engage in prayers.
