NASA Demos Force Closure of Government Offices in London

The Kenya High Commission in London was on Friday closed early due to the ongoing demonstrations staged by National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters outside the Portland place offices.

The protest was the second one to be conducted in the United Kingdom's capital.

According to the Chairman and leader of the demonstration George Osore, the national flag was removed and the main entrance door shut immediately the group assembled outside the offices.

"We just saw the national flag being lowered and the entrance door shut when we started to assemble outside," he stated.

Mr Osore further indicated that the group was protesting against the sham election being held in Kenya.

"We are saying we are not a party to it. We have seen innocent Kenyans killed. This is the start of resistance and civil disobedience," Mr Osore noted.

The protesters allied to the Opposition had placards labeled 'Uhuru must go', 'we need justice' and 'stop police killings'.

A section of the demonstrators also held loudspeakers during the protest at the parking lot on the Portland-place.

Initially, the group issued a statement indicating that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati had failed to deliver an election in accordance with the constitution and therefore jeopardizing the whole process.

Part of the statement also urged the British government to intervene to end the stalemate in Kenya by initiating dialogue among the political rivals.
