Jubilee MP Warns Uhuru Against Being Too Lenient With NASA

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been asked to stamp his authority in his second term as the Head of State and stop being compliant with NASA.

Chuka Igambe Ng’ombe MP Patrick Munene, who was speaking during an interview with KTN News on Monday, urged the President to stop being too lenient with "people who do not want to follow the law".

“Once Uhuru Kenyatta is given power today, I would like to challenge him to stamp his authority a little bit. He has been a very lenient President, that is why people are breaking the law,” Mr Munene stated.

His remarks were prompted by NASA's decision to boycott the repeat presidential election that was held on Thursday, October 26. He further retaliated Deputy President, William Ruto’s remark that the Opposition formed a militia that stopped the poll in four counties.

“The Deputy President restated what Raila Odinga has declared himself. Mr Odinga has declared himself a lord of a national militia movement... the deputy president was repeating that we do not have an opposition leader but a militia leader,” Munene stated.

During an interview with CNN, the DP accused Mr Odinga of forming National Resistance Movement (NRM) which he alleged was a militia movement. He further compared the Movement to the Lord’s Resistance Army of Uganda.

He claimed Odinga sponsored militia to stop IEBC officials from conducting the elections in his political strongholds, further downplaying the perceived low voter turnout, comparing it to August 8 elections which had a 78 percent turnout.

On the eve of the repeat presidential election, the Opposition leader made a declaration that NASA will turn into a resistance movement and push for a free and credible election within 90 days.

Mr Odinga noted that the resistance movement's primary aim would be to restore a government established in compliance with the country's Constitution.

In an interview with CNN, the opposition chief affirmed that they will use constitutional means to force President Uhuru Kenyatta out of office.

In another interview with Al Jazeera, Ruto maintained that dialogue between the Jubilee Party and the NASA must be within the confines of the constitution.

He affirmed that the fresh election, which was held on October 26, was in conformity with the law adding that Kenya will move on from there.
