COTU Boss Francis Atwoli’s Announcement on Supporting Raila Odinga

Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has dismissed reports indicating that he was supporting National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga in the concluded election.

Atwoli made the announcement after a press statement went viral claiming he had held a press conference and bashed Deputy President William Ruto.

The statement posted by a Mr Owiti Owayo on Sunday night, implied that Mr Atwoli had stated that the Deputy President’s style of leadership was wanting.

The statement also cited that the COTU boss had stated he believed that the October 26 election results were fabricated.

Atwoli, however, dismissed the press statement as fake news adding that he was neutral in the political impasse.

He noted that Kenyans should talk in order to cool the heightened political temperatures.

“The author of the fake news is a stranger to me. I wish to urge Kenyans to ignore such propaganda,” Atwoli stated.

Before the October 26 elections, Atwoli had called on President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr Odinga to dialogue.

He urged the two leaders and their teams to save Kenya from a looming crisis.

The COTU Secretary General, however, noted that the call for dialogue did not mean that the two should share the government as has been widely speculated.
