NASA Apologises After Attack on Journalists

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Philip Etale has spoken out after two journalists were attacked at Wiper Headquarters on Tuesday.

Etale stated that the attack on Citizen TV journalist Francis Gachuri and NTV camerawoman Jane Gatwiri was regrettable and promised that the incident would be investigated and swift action taken.

Mr Etale, speaking on behalf of NASA, revealed that he did what he could to get the journalists to safety and that he 'abhorred' such acts.

Earlier on Tuesday, Gachuri, who is a senior political reporter, was roughed up at Wiper headquarters by a rowdy group of youth.

On the other hand, Gatwiri was slapped when she tried to record the incident.

During the incident, a section of people who were in attendance intervened and took Mr Gachuri to safety in a nearby tent.

A KTN journalist was reportedly injured as the confusion ensued.

The rest of the journalists stormed out in protest, maintaining that they would not return to the venue until NASA leaders apologise for the attack.

The journalists were at the offices to cover a highly-anticipated announcement by NASA leader Raila Odinga.

He is expected to give the way forward for the coalition following the declaration of President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory in the repeat election on Monday.
