New List of Cabinet Members Approved

Cabinet members nominated by National Super Alliance (NASA) Governor Charity Ngilu have been approved by the Kitui County Assembly.

In a report released on Friday, the Kitui county ward representatives commended the new appointees as they gave the nod to all eight candidates.

"They have exhibited impressive knowledge of topical and legal issues touching on their dockets and they have the requisite abilities, qualifications and experience suitable to serve as county executive committee members.

"As a committee, we rewarded merit and competencies and we think the county has a good cabinet to serve the people and help the governor deliver on her manifesto," the report read in part.

Minority Leader John Kisangau Mbaki lauded the selections stating that some possessed higher competencies than some of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Principal Secretaries.

"Mr Speaker, this team satisfies all the relevant benchmarks stipulated in law and as a committee, we took into account overall suitability, gender balance, community and cultural diversity of our county," Mr Mbaki declared.

Intrigues around the appointments included one executive who served during the regime of former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.

Ms Mary Ndunge Nguli, the new Kitui County Executive Committee member for the Finance docket, formerly worked for the Kiambu administration and scored 90.8% during the vetting process.

The rest of the team comprises of Rosaita Mbukua Ngina (Health), Nairobi lawyer John Makau (Environment & Natural Resources), Eng. Emmanuel Kisangau (Agriculture), 31-year-old Philip Mumo (Trade), David Kivoto (Education & ICT), Eng. Jacob Kakundi (Land) and Patrick Koki Musau (Tourism, Sports & Culture).
