NASA Announces Date For 1st People's Assembly Sitting

National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition has announced that the People's Assembly sessions will kick off within the next two weeks.

Addressing a rally at Kamukunji grounds in Kibra on Sunday, Siaya Senator James Orengo stated that it is through the assembly that Kenyans would forge a new path.

"Tumeacha Bunge, sasa tumeanzisha People's Assembly ambayo kikao cha kwanza itaanza ndani ya wiki mbili (Which loosely translates to we are done with Parliament and we have started on the People's Assembly which shall commence within two weeks)" he declared.

He further stated that the coalition would not wait for the ruling by the Supreme Court and would proceed to declare NASA leader Raila Odinga the President of the country.

"Sisi hatutangoja uamuzi wa korti, tutatoa mwelekeo wetu wa kumtambua Raila Odinga kama rais wa Kenya (We shall not wait for the decision of the courts for we shall set our own directive to recognize Mr Odinga as the President of Kenya)" he added.

He was accompanied by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.

On Saturday, the NASA leader announced that they would hold one demonstration next week against the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the October 26 repeat poll.

He called on all his supporters to prepare for the one protest scheduled to kick off the million-man march.

Raila is alleged to have asked all NASA Members of Parliament to each ferry at least 3,000 supporters to Nairobi for the People’s Assembly march.

The march is supposed to build momentum for a revolution against Kenyatta’s administration. The lawmakers will be working closely with their MCAs to rally opposition troops and backers into the capital city for the launch of pro-democracy protests.
