DP Ruto Reveals 1st Thing Uhuru Will Do After Swearing-In

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta will embark on a reconciliation journey immediately after being sworn in for his second term.

Speaking in Eldoret during a requiem mass for the late Bishop Cornelius Korir, DP Ruto stated that the Jubilee government will work hard to ensure that the country is united.

"Now that the chapter of political campaigns in the country is over, as Jubilee, we shall embark on a mission to unify Kenyans together with other stakeholders in peace immediately the President-elect is sworn into office so as to give hope to our children,” he stated.

The DP also noted that President Kenyatta's administration would embark on ensuring that all development projects are equally distributed within the country.

Eulogizing the late Bishop Korir, Mr Ruto explained the retired Man of the Cloth was a person of peace and called on leaders to emulate the great work he did not only in conflict-prone North Rift, but the country at large.

Meanwhile, President Kenyatta on Sunday stated that he was open to dialogue with Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on how to unite the country after the election.

Speaking during the centennial celebrations for the Anglican Church of Kenya at All Saints Cathedral presided by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, President Kenyatta stated that he had heard the calls for dialogue and reconciliation.

“We have heard your message on the need for reconciliation and I hope everyone in the congregation has heard it as well,” he stated.

President Kenyatta made the remarks after Archbishop Welby called on Kenyans to strengthen structures of reconciliation.

“Reconciliation is a supreme gift of Jesus. Reconciliation is so costly it caused Jesus to die on the cross.

“Kenya should provide an example of reconciliation. Kenya has been a good model of peace and reconciliation across Africa," Welby stated.
