Jeff Koinange In Mourning

Renowned radio presenter and JKL Show host Jeff Koinange is in mourning after he lost his grandmother.

The grandmother, Elizabeth Gathoni, died aged 117.

She was the only surviving widow of colonial-era chief Koinange wa Mbiyu.

She was among the oldest people in the country.

In a tweet, Jeff broke the news terming his late 'grandma' as a patriot and a matriarch to all.

Reports from the family indicate that she died at her Kiambaa home in Kiambu County on Thursday evening at around 9.30 pm.

“We can say that she has died because to her old age and not illness. She was not sick but had started withdrawing from food, and for the better part of the day, she had refused to take any meal,” the Nation quoted Leonard Koinange one of the late Gathoni's sons.

Following his announcement, Kenyans trooped to his Twitter timeline to pass their messages of condolence.

Here are some of the messages:

Kenyans.co.ke would also like to pass our condolences to the family. May the Almighty God comfort you and give you peace.
