Mudavadi Reveals People's Assembly's 1st Action

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday revealed that they will demand a referendum to change the Constitution to ensure electoral justice is upheld.

Speaking during a burial in Vihiga County, Mr Mudavadi stated that NASA resorted to invoking the people’s power as a way of pushing for electoral amendments.

Four counties: Siaya, Homa Bay, Busia, and Vihiga approved the motion to establish a People's Assembly.

More county assemblies are expected to follow suit with the motion in Kakamega being debated on Tuesday.

"We will soon call for a referendum where we will seek to ensure that people's power is felt. Jubilee intends to use its numbers strength in Parliament and this is what we want to tame," Mudavadi stated.

"We do not recognise the elections of August 8 and October 26. We want a new constitutional arrangement, electoral justice and respect for every vote cast," he added.

The burial was also attended by Vihiga Senator George Khaniri who ascertained that justice was a requirement for peace.

Khaniri further defended the motion on the establishment of People's Assembly that is now before NASA dominated assemblies, affirming that it was legal.

"We are not doing this for Raila Odinga but the future generations. Perennial rigging of elections is disfranchising other potential leaders from ascending to the Presidency," Mr Khaniri stated.
