NASA Exposes Nairobi Police Boss

National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief Executive Norman Magaya has claimed that Nairobi Police Commandant Japheth Koome directed officers to decline notification from the coalition of their Sunday rally at Jacaranda Grounds.

This is after Koome held a press briefing where he stated that the rally was illegal because NASA had not notified the authorities in time.

Magaya took to social media to state: "On Wednesday 8th Nov NASA officially notified police of its rally at Jacaranda grounds on Sunday and Kamukunji grounds on Tuesday. Mr. Koome again instructed his officers to decline receipt of the notification. So who is breaching the law?"

Koome had earlier claimed that NASA had not notified the local OCS as he cautioned Kenyans against attending the rally.

He stated: "It is very unfortunate that I've found out through the media that there are some people who are having a meeting in Jacaranda this afternoon.

"Chapter 56 of the laws of Kenya states clearly that anyone who intends to have a meeting or procession of any sort must notify the local OCS.  You must tell that local OCS so that the police assure of security," he added.

The police boss went on to state that NASA was putting lives at risk by failing to notify the authorities.

"Why do you want to break the law? When you do that, in the process we have people injured, we have rivalry among those attending, people are injured," Koome stated.

He went on to claim that allegations of police brutality arose from such instances.

Koome stated: "When we sense the threat to life and property and move in to disperse such a crowd, we hear of police brutality."
