This Car Will Kill Me - Governor Gakuru Once Confessed

Former Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru told his deputy that his official car, which caused his death, was the one that would eventually kill him.

These startling allegations were made on Tuesday by his successor Mutahi Kahiga during his requiem at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Nyeri.

Governor Kahiga, who was sworn in on Monday, November 13, stated that he was shocked to find out that the late governor had traveled outside the County using his official vehicle.

“I keep asking everybody who bothers to listen, how did Wahome Gakuru find himself in the Mercedez Benz outside Nyeri… it was faulty and he had told me three or four times this is the car that will kill me,” Governor Kahiga stated.

This comes after the county government allocated Ksh.14 million for purchasing a new official vehicle for the governor in its revised budget estimates tabled at the county assembly on Tuesday.

Mr Kahiga further defended the move by the county to purchase a new car for the governor, stating that vehicles assigned to the county boss were faulty.

“As we are speaking, there is no governor’s car. The car I’m using I got it from the Department of Finance,” he added.

The Mercedes Benz Dr. Gakuru was traveling in was written off after it rammed into guardrails on the Thika-Nyeri highway in Murang’a county last week.

Nyeri County will also spend Sh35 million for houses of top officials in the Sh7.8 billion supplementary budget tabled in the county assembly on Tuesday morning.
