Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Kooome has blocked National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders from holding a rally at Kamukunji on Thursday ahead of Raila Odinga’s return to the country.
Koome argued that the rally was likely to disrupt the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The announcement by the police boss came after Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chairperson Prof. George Magoha wrote a letter citing major concerns ahead of the rally.
Magoha appealed for more security within educational institutions along the routes the Opposition supporters were likely to use.

"Going by past history, where politically charged activities have, at times led to the disruption of normal businesses within the city, I kindly request you to provide adequate security at all examination centres to ensure the examinations are not interfered with,” Magoha's letter read.
This comes after Assistant Inspector General of Police George Kinoti warned NASA supporters against going to JKIA on Friday to receive Mr Odinga.
In a statement released by the National Police Service, Kinoti noted that the airport is a protected area hence access is open to bonafide travelers and people who have legitimate business at the airport.
On Monday Siaya Senator James Orengo, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama invited NASA supporters to a 'dress rehearsal rally' for the Friday grand welcome they have planned for Odinga.
The Opposition Chief has been in the US since last week holding meetings with top bureaucrats and Congress officials in a bid to push for his electoral reforms agenda.
