2 Arrested Over Shooting of DCJ Mwilu's Bodyguard

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu's bodyguard.

Reports indicate that the pistol used in the shooting was recovered in Dandora, Nairobi.

An additional firearm was also found on the suspects who were arrested in Kawangware.

According to sources, police also recovered a bag that was stolen from the driver during the incident.

Justice Mwilu's bodyguard was shot and wounded on October 24th in Hurlingham area, Nairobi.

The constable identified as Titus Musyoka was attacked near Marsabit plaza by an unknown gunman.

His shooter also robbed him his gun before fleeing the scene on a motorbike.

At the time of the incident, the deputy Supreme Court President was not in the vehicle.

Following the shooting, Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i met with Chief Justice David Maraga and the DCJ where he directed the Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet and Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome to beef up security for the members of the judiciary.

"I have met IG Boinnet and Nairobi County Commander Koome who are working to ensure the complete security of all members of the Judiciary," Matiang'i stated.

After the shooting, the DCJ was unable to attend a court session the following day leading to a quorum hitch in a case that was challenging the validity of the October 26th poll.
