Gor Mahia Crowned 2017 Sportpesa Premier League Champions

Gor Mahia FC have on Saturday been crowned the 2017 Sportpesa Premier League Champions at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

They maintained their status as Kenya's most successful football club as they won their 16th title.

The match against Sony Sugar was a mere formality as they had already secured the league with four games to go.

The match ended 2-2, with Gor Mahia's prolific striker Meddie Kagere scoring a brace.

Sony Sugar's goals came courtesy of George Abege and Yema Mwana.

Passionate fans had thronged the stadium as they waited for the final whistle.

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o and Senator Fred Outa were also at the venue to support the team.

Fans broke into song and dance at the final whistle as they celebrated their team's achievement.

Finally, the moment that everyone had been waiting for arrived.

Gor Mahia lifted the huge trophy and broke into celebrations after.

Head Coach Dylan Kerr, who recently got a tattoo on his leg to celebrate the title win, was tossed in the air by his players.
