Ruth Odinga Rushed to Hospital

Ruth Odinga, the younger sister of NASA leader Raila Odinga, was on Monday admitted to hospital with chest complications.

The former Kisumu Deputy Governor, who is in charge of special programmes at the Kisumu county government, is undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital.

According to the Nation, Ms Odinga suffered chest problems and sought medical attention immediately.

“I developed chest pains and difficulties in breathing hence visited the hospital.

“I am feeling better. I hope the doctors will give me a clean bill of health anytime," she was quoted.

Last week, a magistrate’s court in Kisumu lifted an arrest warrant that had been issued against Ms. Odinga and Senator Fred Outa.

The warrant was issued after the duo failed to appear in court for the hearing of a case in which they were accused of training of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials last month.

Lawyers representing the duo pleaded that both Ruth and Outa failed to appear on Monday because of circumstances beyond their control.

In an application to have the warrant lifted, lawyer Geoffrey Yogo told the court that Outa had missed a flight while Odinga had been bedridden.

“They missed not because of disobedience but because of unavoidable circumstances,” stated Yogo.

He noted that Odinga was admitted to a hospital after she fell ill and was only discharged the following day.
