Raila Odinga Loses Application for Lifestyle Audit Against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday suffered a blow after the High Court dismissed his application seeking a lifestyle audit on Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

The court threw out the application on grounds that it lacked merit.

The former Prime Minister had moved to court seeking orders compelling Governor Waiguru to provide a list of all her property and financial statements regarding the amount of allowances she earned while a Cabinet Secretary.

Mr Odinga also wanted the details of the former CS's activities at the Nairobi Securities exchange looked into.

"I will be greatly prejudiced if these interrogatory questions are not answered as I will not be in a position to sufficiently prepare for trial," Mr Odinga submitted.

The Opposition leader moved to Court after Waiguru was accused of being involved in a multi-million scandal at the Ministry of Devolution and planning.

The issue also caught the eye of the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee who investigated the matter and found that a lot of Millions of taxpayers money could have been lost in the scandal.

The Parliamentary committee made recommendations that a lifestyle audit is conducted on Senior officials at the ministry.

The newly elected Governor, however, challenged the recommendations by the committee arguing that she was only a whistleblower and was not involved in the scandal.
