Police Storm MP Simba Arati's House Ahead Of NASA's Event

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati is unable to leave his home after a group of police officers pitched camp outside his house in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

Mr Arati revealed that the officers were searching all vehicles entering and leaving his home.

Four officers, in a Subaru vehicle, are claimed to have camped at the residence located on Tebere Crescent off Kangundo Road since midnight, while three others arrived later in an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC).

This comes ahead of the National Super Alliance’s (NASA's) memorial service at Jacaranda Grounds, Embakasi where General Service Unit (GSU) officers have been spotted.

The venue has already been sealed off by the GSU officers.

The coalition had declared that they would hold a memorial service at the grounds on Tuesday in honor of those who had died from alleged police brutality.

The service was to be held at the same time as President Uhuru Kenyatta's inauguration at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome stated that his officers had not received any notification of any other public gathering in the city on Tuesday.

NASA, through their legal team, however, insisted that they had notified Mr Koome as well as Soweto and Embakasi police stations.

They called on the officers to provide security at the event.
