Najib Balala Agrees To Work With Joho On New Project

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has pledged to work with Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to deal with the garbage menace in the county.

Mombasa is expected to host the SKAL International Congress at the Pride Inn Hotel next year and Balala warned that some delegations could cancel if the situation is not addressed.

He stated: “We should do damage control quickly before we get cancellations.

“I am impressed with the way the Governor is handling the cholera issue,” Balala stated.

While referencing the recent Cholera Outbreak in Mombasa, Mr Balala noted that the city could lose hosting rights for the conference if the outbreak was not dealt with.

The SKAL International Congress was originally supposed to be held in Mombasa in October 2015 but was postponed after various Western countries issued travel advisories to their citizens.

Governor Joho's administration has for long been blamed for not doing enough to handle waste management in the county.

This has been cited as a cause of declining revenue from tourism.

15 MCAs from Migori were recently hospitalized in Mombasa hospitals over a suspected case of Cholera.

Doctors, however, noted that they were suffering from food poisoning.

Health Executive Hazel Koitaba announced that Cholera patients had been isolated.
