Murang’a MCAs Table Impeachment Motion

Murang'a Members of the County Assembly (MCA) on Wednesday tabled a motion seeking the removal of assembly clerk Chris Kinyanjui accusing him of frustrating them.

The MCAs blames the official for interfering with their well-being in the assembly since they were sworn in following the August elections.

On Monday, Murang’a East OCPD Johnstone Limo led police officers in ejecting the MCAs who had raided the clerk’s office located in the assembly.

The members were protesting against the meager allowances they were paid during the KICOSCA games in Machakos last week.

The ward representatives further accused Kinyanjui of reducing their allowances and giving them what they termed as “substandard uniforms for the games.”

Majority Leader Eric Kamande, however, affirmed that he was pushing for the leaders to solve the issue amicably.

"The MCAs have raised genuine issues. We are working on solving this without pushing anyone because the county is for us all and we must serve the people first," he stated.

They additionally accused Mr Kinyanjui of stalling their car loans and mortgages from the county government.

However, Mr Kinyanjui insisted that the MCAs had violated the standing orders and that they will be punished for raiding his office.

He further revealed that he had filed a formal case with the powers and privileges committee which is chaired by the House speaker.
