Prior to his death, Mr Keter had contested the Belgut Parliamentary Seat in the 2017 General Election but lost to Jubilee Party's Nelson Koech.

Keter was elected in 2013 under the KANU party ticket and was vying as an independent candidate in the August 8th election.

In November, the son of former Changamwe Member of Parliament (MP) Ramadhan Kajembe also lost his life.

Seif Kajembe died on while receiving treatment at a hospital in India.

According to Seif’s brother Sudi Kajembe, the deceased had been at the hospital for the last two weeks.

Reports indicate that Mr Kajembe who has been in active politics for over 30 years was grooming his deceased son to take over the political mantle from him.

Seif vied for the Jomvu Parliamentary seat in 2007 but lost the seat to his brother in-law Badi Twalib.
