Hundreds Flock Kisumu Airport To Escort Raila [VIDEO]

Normal operations at the Kisumu International Airport came to a halt after supporters of opposition leader Raila Odinga flocked it.

The supporters came out in their hundreds on Monday as Mr Odinga was preparing to board a plane heading to Nairobi as they chanted praise for him.

Raila Odinga arrived in Kisumu which is his home turf to a heroic welcome and tight security on Saturday.

This was the first time that Raila was making a return to Nyanza after he skipped the repeat October 26 general election which was decreed by the Supreme Court.

Mr Odinga landed at the Kisumu International Airport and was received by a host of leaders led by Kisumu governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o.

Raila had assured his supporters that come December 12 he would also be sworn in but in a bloodless coup reminiscent of Zimbabwe’s overthrow of 37 years old rule of Robert Mugabe.

Following the arrest of the coalition’s strategist, Mr David Ndii, Mr Odinga termed it as a wider scheme by the government to intimidate Kenyans fighting for electoral justice.

He further told his supporters to expect more arrests and intimidation from the Jubilee government.

Mr Odinga maintained that the government was hell-bent on ensuring that electoral reforms were not achieved.

He further stated that the opposition will not be cowed into submission, stressing that Kenyans’ move towards electoral justice was unstoppable.
