Speaker Justin Muturi Kicks John Mbadi Out of Parliament

National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi was on Thursday thrown out of Parliament chambers after stating that Kenya does not have a President.

The Suba South MP was contributing to a procedural motion in the morning when he made the remark.

“As we prepare to go to recess today, there is no need of being recalled to approve anything by the president because as far as I am concerned, there is no sitting president,” he stated.

Mbadi refused to withdraw his statement despite an order from Speaker Justin Muturi.

“I have ordered you the leader of minority to either withdraw the statement or face the consequences, which you know.

"I will not allow such statements to be made under my watch. Some statements you are comfortable making outside there and not within this chamber.

"When you are outside there, you can say anything you want and will get away with it but not here under my watch,” added the speaker.

Mbadi then stated that he would rather withdraw from Parliament than withdraw his statement, amid heckles from legislators allied to the Jubilee Party.

Mr Muturi then ordered him out of the chambers adding that he would not engage him in any discussion unless he took back his words.

Mbadi opted to walk out and even shook hands of a few MPs as he headed towards the exit.
