Esther Passaris Caught With Tea Flask During Parliament Session

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Thursday allegedly entered the National Assembly chambers with a thermos flask.

This seemingly angered Majority Leader Aden Duale who raised the matter before National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.

"Mr Speaker, the great leader of Nairobi women representative Ms Passaris has entered with a flask full of tea. I don't know whether you have allowed us to have tea.

"If she is allowed then I should be allowed to come with a guard full of camel milk," the Garissa Town MP noted.

Mr Muturi went ahead and ordered the sergeant at arms to confirm whether she had carried the flask as alleged by Mr Duale.

The National Assembly Speaker defended Ms Passaris' action arguing that she could not have known that it was a mistake.

He directed the Sergeant at arms to be vigilant when searching MPs as they enter the chambers and further directed them to provide more clarification on the house rules.

"Sergeant at arms should advise members that if you carry things that will help you stay longer, you can store in a safe place.

"So that from time to time you can go to sip whatever you need," he stated.

When contacted by Kenyans.co.ke regarding the incident in Parliament, Ms Passaris noted: "It was just a laugh, nothing more, Duale having fun."

It was during this session that ODM Chairman John Mbadi was kicked out of Parliament chambers for failing to withdraw his statement that Kenya has no legitimate President.
