Drama as Police Officers Beat Up Their Boss

Assistant County Commissioner of Murang'a County, Benjamin Baraza Masika, was on Thursday beaten up by Administration Police (AP) officers who were aiming at Mugeka town residents.

Masika was a victim of a confrontation between the APs and the civilians which ensued after the officers started attacking members of the public.

The officers are said to have been angered by reports that one of their female colleagues had been assaulted by a male civilian at a local pub.

After the alleged assault, the female officer went and reported the incident to her colleagues who, in solidarity, decided to come and avenge for her.

They then stormed the bar, handcuffed the suspected assailant and beat him up.

Residents of Mugeka then retaliated provoking the officers, who were at the time, outnumbered.

The APs headed back to their base and later returned to the town wearing uniforms after which they reportedly started attacking anyone on sight.

They then ordered all businesses to close as they continued terrorising the residents.

The situation got out of hand after the residents tried to confront the APs for the unwarranted attack.

The angry officers are even reported to have roughed up the Assistant County Commander during the incident.

Commenting on the matter, Mr Masika criticised the attack which he noted was the wrong approach to resolve a dispute and promised to later address the issue

“Why have you taken it upon yourselves to resolve a dispute? You came to the town and beat everyone in the town including your boss,” he stated.
