3 New Features All M-Pesa Users Need to Know About

Safaricom has unveiled a host of new features in the latest update to the mySafaricom app, with three of them meant to vastly improve the M-Pesa user experience.

The new M-Pesa features are the Bill Manager, in-phone M-Pesa 1Tap capabilities and the ability to make Lipa na M-Pesa payments by simply scanning a QR code.

The Bill Manager creates a seamless process to help users stay on top of their bills by putting them all in one place and eliminating the need to memorize PayBill numbers.

With the new feature, users get access to popular bills, a list of frequently accessed bills by the user and the steps needed to complete a transaction are cut down.

Users can also set reminders for specific bills.

The update has also made it possible for users to make Lipa Na M-Pesa payments through the newly launched M-Pesa 1Tap.

Users with Android handsets that support Near Field Communications (NFC) technology will now be able to use their phones as virtual 1Tap cards, enabling them to tap their phones to complete payments.

This will complement the existing 1Tap stickers, wristbands and cards.

Thanks to the update, M-Pesa users will now be able to make withdrawals and complete Lipa Na M-Pesa payments by simply scanning a QR code.

M-Pesa agents and Lipa Na M-Pesa merchants have already started receiving their unique stickers with the QR codes.

Also new to the mySafaricom app is the Data Usage manager, which lets customers view their data usage for a given period and a list of applications and data used by each app during the period.
