Governor Alfred Mutua Attacked for 'Painting' Road

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has come under harsh criticism from Lawyer Donald Kipkorir for 'painting' roads in the county.

The lawyer took to his social media accusing the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader of deceiving the people with his tarmacking project.

"Alfred Mutua is giving people of Machakos painted road and calls it Tarmac. It’s time Kenyans demand what is promised. It is called selling snake oil and it is Corruption!" Lawyer Kipkorir tweeted on Friday.

Earlier in the week, Governor Mutua set off on an ambitious plan to tarmac the 21km Kivandini- Masinga road using County equipment and engineers.

"I have today led my team in the tarmacking of the Kivandini - Masinga road. Using the Super Maendeleo Chap Chap Philosophy, we are doing 100metres in a record 1 minute; 1 kilometer in 10 minutes. We have proven today that it can be done and we will continue to perfect it.

"This is the philosophy that Machakos will use to tarmac all our roads and to ensure that the mwananchi in the remotest part of Machakos gets quality road infrastructure. I have a vision for Machakos and I will not rest until my people get premier service from my government," he announced on Thursday.

He maintained that the technology being used was similar to the one used to build roads in China, Dubai Emirate, Australia, United States and Europe.

"The quality of a road is actually better when there are no unnecessary gaps due to disorganization. I have shown that in the same way they build quality roads in China, Dubai Emirate, Australia, United States and Europe fast, we can also do so in Masinga, Machakos County, Kenya.

"The 21 km Kivandini - Masinga road is one of 10 ongoing road projects in Machakos county. The road is funded and being constructed using Machakos county machines and engineers," the Machakos Governor stated.

Mr Korir's criticism of the Governor's project was met with mixed reactions where people defended Mutua for his innovation while others viewed the project as a fraud.
