NASA Governor Sends Home Entire County Board

Migori Governor Okoth Obado on Sunday sent home the entire county public service board over corruption allegations.

The commissioners were sent home for 90 days to allow for investigations into the claims.

In addition to the dismissal, vehicles attached to the officers were also taken away as the officers were asked to stay far from the County offices during the probe.

Explaining why the board was sent home, Governor Obado noted that he had been receiving complains regarding the officers and therefore decided to taken action.

"Yes, it is true the commissioners have been sent on compulsory leave for 90 days during which the allegations against them will be investigated.

"There are letters written to the governor over the conduct of some of the officers and it was only prudent that these claims be investigated," Migori County Director of communications Nicholas Anyuor told the Standard.

Mr Peterlis Nyatuga, the Board chair while speaking to the Nation, however, explained that the Board would sit next week to discuss the way forward.

“I have called a board meeting on Wednesday week to deliberate on our next plan,” he stated.

Mr Nyatuga further noted that sending the entire board home could affect county operations severely.

“Without the commissioners, the board is dead. The secretariat only implements decisions of the commissioners,” he noted.
