Waiguru, Kibwana, Voted Best Governors

A survey conducted by Poll Kenya indicated that Makueni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana had the highest job approval rating during his first 100 days in office.

Kibwana who is serving his final term in as a governor had an approval rating of 64 percent.

In February 2017, the Makueni governor jumped ship from his Muungano Party to Wiper Democratic Movement.

Kirinyaga’s Anne Waiguru and Prof. Anyang' Nyong’o of Kisumu got the second and third best job approvals at 54 percent and 53 percent respectively.

Waiguru and Professor Nyong’o are both new governors elected during the August 8 general elections.

Anne Waiguru had previously served as the Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary.

Her tenure was tainted by the National Youth Service (NYS) graft scandal which saw the loss of Sh791 million, with some alleging that the figure could be as high as Sh1.8 billion.

During his first month in office, Governor Nyong’o sacked all county ministers and chief officers stating that the action was necessary to ensure a smooth transition as he took over.
