I Will Replace Mudavadi in 2022 - Eugene Wamalwa Declares

Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has declared that Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has failed as a leader and has promised to challenge him in 2022.

Mr Wamalwa noted that he supported Mudavadi's run for President in 2013 but had lost faith in his leadership abilities following the December 26 incident in Vihiga that saw Wamalwa heckled and pelted with stones.

Speaking in Bungoma on Tuesday, Wamalwa stated that Mudavadi should not expect the support of the Luhya community in 2022.

He stated: "Today I want to tell him (Mudavadi) come 2022, he should not expect our support because he has totally lost our confidence and our respect.

"I'm serving him (Mudavadi) a notice of intention, come 2022, because of failure of leadership on his part, I want to come back and tell him that I will be back come 2022," Wamalwa added.

The CS further stated that Mudavadi would be welcomed in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma but would not be recognized as the Luhya leader.

"I will welcome him here, Dan Wanyama and the people of Bungoma, Trans Nzoia will welcome him as a fellow Luhya. But we will no longer welcome him here as our leader," Wamalwa stated.

During a cultural festival in Vihiga where Mudavadi was the Chief Guest, Wamalwa's arrival was met with jeers from the crowd.

The ANC leader was forced to escort Wamalwa to his vehicle after youth started pelting the CS with stones.

Mudavadi explained that the youth were aggrieved by Wamalwa's perceived 'betrayal' of the community after he supported the Jubilee Party.
