2 Things That Made Ruto Skip Cabinet Unveiling - Mutahi Ngunyi [VIDEO]

Political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi on Sunday revealed that Deputy President William Ruto skipped President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet launch to bolster his 2022 Presidential ambitions.

According to the Prof and his team from the Fort Hall School of Government, DP Ruto's 2022 ambitions cannot gain much from appearing behind the President.

"Ruto will become President in 2022 that is a fact of history. For this to happen; Uhuru must release him from unnecessary duties like attending press conferences at State House with him.

"This process began on Friday when the President appeared alone," the team opined.

Secondly, the group explained that for the DP to win the 2022 election, he must take part in nation building activities and not press briefings.

"Ruto must drive national reconciliation duties from this year. That cannot happen if he stands behind the President in press conferences," Ngunyi's team explained.

The DP's absence on Friday when President Kenyatta named a new cabinet created a heated debate with Kenyans coming up with allegations that there was bad blood between the President and his deputy.

Mr David Mugonyi, a Spokesman for the DP, however, dismissed such allegations stating that his boss was not required to be present.

"The Constitution is very clear on who appoints the Cabinet. Who says so and so must be present for something to have concurrence?" Mr Mugonyi posed.

It is on this premise that the second in command opted out of the unexpected announcement, the spokesman conveyed.
