Taita Taveta MCAs Engage in Fight After Passing NASA's Motion [VIDEO]

Taita Taveta Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on Friday engaged in a fist fight moments after they had debated the People's Assembly motion.

The fight erupted at the county assembly hall soon after the ward representatives debated and passed the motion instituted by National Super Alliance (NASA).

The motion seeks to create a People's Assembly at the devolved units.

Other counties that have passed the motion include Siaya, Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Makueni and Kilifi County Assemblies.

A week ago, their Murang'a counterparts also engaged in an ugly fight after it emerged that some of the ward representatives allegedly plotted to impeach majority leader Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip.

The fight erupted during a meeting organized by Jubilee Party chairman Simon Gikuru whose agenda was reported to discuss the removal of the three officials.

Speaking during a People Assembly's meeting a week ago, NASA leader Raila Odinga disclosed the five agendas the Opposition forums would push for.

He stated that the assembly would advocate for judicial independence, a proper Police Service and electoral justice.

He also stated that they would focus on restructuring and strengthening devolution as well as the restructuring of the executive.

"We want a devolved unit that has enough capacity to make itself sustainable.

"He called for reducing dependency on the national government while urging for deconcentration of power in the Presidency," he stated.
