Uhuru and Raila Agree That Kenyan Striker Michael Olunga is the Best

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Chief Raila Odinga on Saturday evening put their political differences aside and agreed that Kenyan International striker Michael Olunga was among the best footballers in the region.

The two leaders, in separate tweets, congratulated the Girona FC striker after he became the first Kenyan to score a goal and a hat-trick for the team in the Spanish Laliga.

President Kenyatta tweeted: "Congratulations Michael Ogada Olunga for making history as the first Kenyan footballer to score a goal in the LaLiga and the first player to score a hattrick for Girona FC in the Spanish top league. Continue flying the Magical Kenya flag high."

The former Prime Minister on his part posted " Congratulations to Kenyan born Michael Olunga on becoming the first Girona FC player to score a hat-trick in the Spanish LaLiga.

"Today's accomplishment by Ogada Olunga will serve as an inspiration to all our young people and we are very proud of him. Well done Olunga," Odinga added.

This was the first time the President and the Opposition Leader have shared a common position in the new year as the two leaders have always been differing on political matters.

Meanwhile, Olunga on Saturday set a record in the Spanish Laliga after bagging a hat-trick for his struggling FC Girona who tore apart Las Palmas 6-0 in a one-sided La Liga match.

The goals made the Harambee Stars Striker go down in history books, as the first ever Girona player to claim a hat-trick in the La Liga league.

He scored three goals in a span of 22 minutes to help Girona to ninth place on the league table.

He had over the months grown frustrated in the club by warming the bench but was handed a chance as a 46th-minute substitute.

Olunga took the opportunity, plundering in a treble, his first La Liga goals that will leave his head coach Pablo Machini Diez with some soul searching work to do ahead of the next round of fixtures.
