ODM, Wiper War Takes New Twist After Controversial Letter

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman John Mbadi has come out to deny writing a letter that belittled affiliate parties in the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The controversial letter emerged earlier this week and has Mbadi's signature and the Coat of Arms and intensified the ongoing tension between the two parties.

It states that ODM does not intend to cede ground in any discussions regarding positions in parliamentary leadership as it is the dominant party.

"This is to put your minds at ease that we are going to tomorrow’s meeting to defend our positions and not to cede ground.

"We have invested more in NASA coalition than other party and we refuse to be apologetic about it. ODM has emerged as the dominant partner hence the need to take up more roles to lead the change movement.

"As such the meeting will be more of an exercise to inform as opposed to a negotiation. Hopefully, we will make them see things our way," reads the letter.

Mbadi strongly denied authoring the letter, revealing that he would rather call party leader Raila Odinga than write him a letter.

“I did not author that letter. That is pure propaganda.

"If I am to address our party leader, I would rather call him directly or visit his office than write him a letter,” stated the leader of Minority in Parliament.

NASA leaders held talks earlier this week following sharp divisions within the coalition regarding sharing of positions in the Houss.

Last week, Wiper Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka claimed that they had been shortchanged and demanded a revocation of the nominations.

"There has been disquiet in NASA over sharing of House leadership positions. We demand a revocation.

"We have instructed the party leader Kalonzo to get the positions shared as earlier agreed," remarked Wiper chairman Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
