Wiper Party Appoints New Leaders

Wiper Democratic Party on Wednesday held elections to institute new national and grassroots leaders to spearhead and advocate for the party's affairs.

The newly elected representatives sent a warning to President Uhuru Kenyatta asking him to dialogue with the Opposition coalition principals or risk throwing the country into a Constitutional and political crisis.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who was in attendance at the meeting, however, cautioned the officials not to lose focus on the party's real political stand.

"Let’s be forthright in what we want for this country as a Party and Coalition. We want equity and end to the electoral fraud that has dominated every election period in this country.

"We must be careful not to do things that may cause bloodshed in this country," Kalonzo warned.

The party leaders asserted their commitment to the Opposition coalition asking their party leader to go ahead with plans to swear in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the people's President and Kalonzo as his deputy.

On Wednesday, Nation reported claims that the wiper party leader and his ANC counterpart Mudalia Mudavadi were in fear of the ramifications of the planned swearing-in.

Mr Odinga has since hinted that he is willing to go into exile if that is what it will cost to have him sworn in as President.

"This is no joke. An illegitimate government is in office, and the one that the people actually wanted to be there is outside. On January 30, we will end this. We will be sworn in with the August 8 results that show we won.

"We can even be a government in exile, one that works from outside. It has happened in other countries. What we are saying is that Kenyans can no longer allow an illegitimate government not elected by the people to rule them. We will work like a government, we will form a Cabinet and we will work as a government," Mr Odinga told Voice of America.

Among those who attended the four-hour meeting in a Nairobi hotel is former Kathiani Member of Parliament (MP) Wavinya Ndeti. She later captioned a photo taken during the meeting as "Team Kalonzo".
