Alfred Keter Fights Back, Sends Warning to Uhuru

Nandi Hills Member of Parliament (MP) Alfred Keter on Thursday fought back against the Jubilee party's decision to have him removed from the Labour committee chair position after a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to journalists, the MP warned the Executive against interfering with parliamentary activities adding that they (MPs) did not influence the formation of the President's cabinet.

"The executive has become so idle that it is intimidating MPs," Mr Keter was quoted by the Star.

He added that he would not be intimidated by the party to give up his Chair position stating that he had obtained a court order preventing his removal.

Mr Keter disclosed that he was ready for any disciplinary action by the party.

Earlier on Thursday, a section of Jubilee MPs claimed that they were not in their right senses during the election of the Labour Committee Leadership.

According to the Nation, the legislators have written to the Speaker of the National Assembly demanding for a repeat poll to elect new leaders of the committee.

During the last election, Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter was elected to chair the committee, contrary to Jubilee Party's plan.

Mr Keter, however, dismissed the request by the lawmakers, stating that it had no legal basis and added that they could be dismissed if it was discovered that they voted while not in their right senses.

Thereafter, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi jumped to the defense of a section of Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs) who were summoned to State House for allegedly being rebellious.

The Jubilee legislators including Silas Tiren (Moiben), Alfred Keter, David Bowen (Marakwet) and Alex Kosgey (Emgwen) reportedly defied Deputy President William Ruto’s directive to resign from committees.
