John Mbadi Now Supports Jubilee MPs

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi on Thursday jumped to the defence of a section of Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs) who were summoned to State House for allegedly being rebellious.

The Jubilee legislators including Silas Tiren (Moiben), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), David Bowen (Marakwet) and Alex Kosgey (Emgwen) reportedly defied Deputy President William Ruto’s directive to resign from committees.

According to the Star, they went against the Statehouse wishes and won elections as chairpersons of the house committees.

The four were elected chairmen of the Labour and Social Welfare, Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources, and Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives committees respectively, trumping the Jubilee party's preferred nominees.

In addition to the four, the Jubilee Party leader also summoned all the 50-plus Jubilee MPs in the four committees to a meeting at State House from 8 am on Thursday.

Mr Mbadi opposed this move stating that State House is interfering with the MPs whose role is to oversight the executive without being compromised.

"They cannot perform that role under an environment characterized by threats and intimidation," he stated.

Meanwhile, A section of Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs) on Thursday claimed that they were not in their right senses during the election of the Labour Committee Leadership.

According to the Nation, the legislators have written to the Speaker of the National Assembly demanding for a repeat poll to elect new leaders of the committee.
