Sonko Explains Why he was Slashed With a Panga on Friday [VIDEO]

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Friday opened up on why he was slashed with a panga during an incidence where he was implicated in causing a commotion in Kilifi County

Earlier reports indicated that Governor Sonko forced his way to a private property in Kikambala, Mtwapa, in the company of armed men who opened fire to scare the occupants.

The landlord of the seven-bedroomed home, Mr Joseph Lenguris, claimed that Sonko organized the raid on Friday, January 12 at 2 am.

Mr Lenguris stated that the flamboyant Governor dramatically stormed in with siren-blowing vehicles and immediately invaded the compound.

Speaking to NTV, Mr Lenguris revealed that Sonko's goons started shooting into the air indiscriminately forcing them to scamper for safety.

"He came at 2 am in the morning with the siren-blowing vehicles and they started shooting bullets in the air," he highlighted.

However, on Friday, Governor Sonko told to journalists at City Hall that the tussle ensued when the attackers, armed with pangas, tried to evict his relatives from the property.

"If they wanted to carry out an eviction they should have done it during the day with police and a court order.

"If I had a gun and they had come to slash me with a panga, I would have killed one. I am Governor and I was hit with a panga on my hand and because of the constitution, am I supposed to wait for my death?" he posed.

He affirmed that he was ready to defend himself and the lives of his relatives if a threat emerged.
