Yatta Member of Parliament (MP) Charles Kilonzo was one of Twitter's trending topics on Friday after he won a Sh2.5 Million settlement on an election petition before the Machakos High Court.

Justice Aggrey Muchelule ordered former MP Francis Mwangangi who had filed the suit to pay both Mr Kilonzo and the IEBC a sum of Sh2.5 Million each after dismissing the petition.

Under the topic "Charles Kilonzo", news agencies and other influencers shared news of the court ruling that upheld the legislator's August 2017 victory.

Kenya's largest public referral facility, the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) became a trending topic on Friday after social media users shared a shocking alert on alleged rape of new mothers at the hospital during the wee hours of the morning.

The reports sparked outrage across social media platforms after the alert was posted on the Buyer Beware group on Facebook.

The Hospital's Corporate Affairs boss, Mr Simon Ithai, was quick to dismiss the account as an outright defamatory statement, however, Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu ordered a probe into the matter and a comprehensive report by Monday, January 22.

Kirinyaga County trended on Friday after a woman was arrested for attempting to poison her 7-year-old son on advice from her boyfriend.

Preliminary police reports revealed that the man managed to convince his girlfriend that the death of her son would make him marry her.
